Oldham dropped their first points of the season away to Colchester but remain unbeaten in League One.Following their 100% start to the season, Oldham were grateful for a late equaliser from substitute Dean Smalley to earn a point at Colchester, remain unbeaten and leave them in second place in League One. John Sherridan’s team have already demonstrated their capacity to fight back from being behind (i.e. 4 – 3 win over Millwall on the opening day, after trailing 1 - 3) and had to do so again when Colchester’s Mark Yeates scored his and the home team’s second goal in the 63rd minute to lead 2 – 0. The response was swift from Oldham as Chris Taylor attacked the Colchester defence and converted a low shot to reduce the deficit in the 64th minute. Despite Colchester's Platt hitting the post, Smalley, and 82nd minute substitute for Liddell, was on hand to connect onto a a Lee Hughes' cross from close range to earn a point.
