Croatia have finally shown the reasons why they can do well in this tournament, with a good 2-1 win over Germany. After a disappointing performance against Austria the Croatians stepped up their game to record the first shock of the tournament.

Germany never really got into the game, and where punished twenty minutes in, after Jansen ball watching allowed Darijo Sarna to turn in Danijel Pranjics superb cross. Croatia continue to dominate the first half with the best opportunity to make it 2-0 falling to winger Niko kranjcar , after Corluka’s chipped cross fell to Kranjcar he could only shoot straight into Lehmann’s arms.

Germany came out with a bit more fight in second half but they never really manage to threaten Pletikosa Goal, with the best chance falling to Ballack who can only stab the ball over the bar.

Croatia hit back after Germany’s small spell of dominance with a second goal courtesy of hardworking striker Ivica Olic. Ivan Rakitics cross took a wicked deflection, and was turned onto the post by Lehmann. It bounced out luckily to Olic who had the easy job of tapping the ball into the back of the net.

Like everyone says you can never right off the Germans and they insured that the game didn’t die off as Lukas Podolski smashed the ball home to claim his third goal of the tournament.

Croatia do their level best to run down the clock by keeping the ball in the corner as long as possible. Bastain Schweinsteiger ended up showing his frustration by pushing Jerko Leko to the ground and is given a Red Card for his efforts.

Germany have suffered a major setback in their efforts to reach the final of this year’s tournament, compared to the Croatians who have achieved a massive turn around to record a memorable win against Germany
