Claire Gibson previews Austria's second Euro 2008 fixture in Group B: Following on from their opening group defeats, this a vital must-win game for both sides.

JUNE 12, 7.45 PM, VIENNA

Following on from their opening group defeats, this a vital must-win game for both sides who are competing at the European Championships for the first time in their histories.

Austria will come into this match bouyant, after far from disgracing themselves against Croatia in a spirited performance driven by pride of playing in front of their own fans.

However, one must not underestimate the Poles who won their qualifying group, with a win and a draw against Portugal on their way. Coach Leo Beenhakker has done much to enhance his reputation among the Polish, overcoming the initial critics who opposed the appointment of a foreign manager.

A new look Polish side is now flourishing with inclusion of previously uncapped players who were impressing at their respective domestic clubs. Beenhakker has also experimented with the more established stars of the side, with a change in position bringing out the best in them.

Poland are a solid defensive outfit and difficult to break down, but lacking creativity or any outfield players with the extra quality to stand out. It is a good job they possess a quality keeper in Artur Borac of Celtic, as chances are he will need to perform to his upmost best if Poland are to emerge from the group stage.

A win for either Austria or Poland here would inject much-needed confidence heading into their remaining group match, giving them all to play for.
