The biggest news coming from France's Euro 08 squad announcement was coach Raymond Domenech's decision to leave Marseille striker Djibril Cisse and AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini out of his final 23-man squad. St Etienne's young forward Bafetimbi Gomis got the nod over Cisse following his recent successful debut in which he scored twice on his debut in a friendly win over Ecuador.

Many familiar names in the French squad, over a third of the squad either currently playing or have played in the English Premiership.
