It was further home disgruntlement as Ipswich failed to see off Blackpool at Portman Road. Paul Bloomfield reports.

The visitors took the lead through Alex Baptiste on 28 minutes, when the full back fired past Richard Wright having got forward from the back.

Luciano Civelli came close to netting a debut goal after good play by Pablo Counago saw the Agentine have his seemingly goal-bound effort blocked by a tangerine shirt.

Tommy Miller drew Ipswich level on 34 minutes with his low shot from just outside the box going in off the post.

Just before half time, Danny Haynes hit a sweetly struck shot from distance that flew just wide of the post.

One minute into the second half, Jon Stead very nearly put Town in front with a spectacular overhead kick. The striker’s effort went straight at Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks but he fumbled the ball out for his defenders to try and deal with, but Civelli was penalised for handball in the aftermath.

A 1-1 draw is how it finished and did little to please the home support or enhance Town’s play-off hopes.
