It was yet another disappointing result for the Blues at Portman Road, with Town having to come from behind to gain a point. Paul Bloomfield reports.Steve Watson missed a good chance to give Wednesday the lead, firing over from 18 yards out after 8 minutes of play. Richard Wood cleared the ball off the line to prevent Town from going in front just before half time. A neat piece of play by Town resulted in Jon Walters unleashing a low drive which was destined for the bottom corner of the net, but Wood was on hand to clear the ball away. It was literally the last action of the half as the referee blew the whistle for half time. Five minutes into the second half, Gareth McAuley will feel he could have done better when he allowed Jermaine Johnson to escape him and cross the ball into the box for Steve Watson to head past Richard Wright and put the away side in front. Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant made a good save to keep out Danny Haynes’ low drilled shot on the turn in the 64th minute. Pablo Counago did what he does best in holding up the ball with his back to goal before playing in Haynes who came very close to levelling the scores. The scores were level moments later from the resulting corner which was delivered into the box by Tommy Miller with Grant saving well from McAuley before Counago headed in from a yard out. Jon Stead sent an effort from 20 yards out narrowly over the bar but 1-1 is how it remained.
