Livefootball presents an overview of its history Round 3 of the Carling Cup saw the final introduction of the Premiership teams who qualified for Europe via league placing and cup winning exploits from last season. The competition drama continued with some shock outcomes! The second round fixtures of the Carling Cup concluded this evening with results going as expected with the higher league teams progressing to Round 3. The evening however was not without its drama! As the first of the Premiership sides entered the competition, the big casualties were at Hartlepool and Swansea where newly promoted West Brom and Hull city both fell in extra time to their lower league opponents! Following the drama of the First Round which saw the early exits of 7 Championship sides in Round One, the draw for Round two has been made to include 12 Premiership teams.
